• Abounding in Truth and Grace: Our Heavenly Father

Recently, my family brought home a new puppy! Sweet as a baby, our little Ginger smiles with dopey eyes and plays with a rambunctious spirit. Occasionally, her harmless nips turn to energetic bites. Although we must teach her mellow play, we accept that her eleven weeks of life on earth haven’t taught her all of the correct behaviors for a dog. Our good, good Father, the Lord God, interacts with us in a similar way. He offers a never-ending thread of Truth and grace that intertwines with one another. At every turn, He feels compassion for our fleshly nature, yet He desires for us to grow in wisdom so that…

  • David’s Beautiful Song to God’s Faithfulness

Do you ever feel a trembling in your bones like the moment before you bust into a rad dance move? Have you ever imagined the even clapping of your hands sounding in your ear? Do you ever sense the vibration of a vocal cord in your throat being skillfully plucked like a guitar, flowing out your lips in beautiful song? I mentally reenact this scene when I read Psalm 59:16, David’s testament to Jesus’ everlasting promise of salvation for His believers. “But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.”…

  • The Living Redeemer

“Well I know my Redeemer lives I know my Redeemer lives All of creation testify This life within me cries..” (My Redeemer Lives, Nicole Mullen) Nearing the lazy mid-afternoon, the Holy Spirit began whispering this sweet, sweet melody in my listening ear. Finally, He tenderly placed the triumphant words onto my singing lips, “My Redeemer lives!” It was on my heart to share the Lord’s voice which stirred within me unto you. He reminded me that though His victorious death on the cross was the ultimate sacrifice that rendered my salvation, He is not finished working. No, instead He is a living Redeemer. Over and over, He heals hurting people,…

  • Shining God’s Light Through Our Lives

Jesus is so glorious, magnificent, and merciful that when we open our hearts to Him and walk with Him, other people can see Him through our lives. Look at it this way: Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior won’t just change your life, but could change the lives of others. I’ve heard the saying, “Did you leave a friend with more of yourself (meaning your own opinion) or did you leave your friend with more of Jesus?” This saying doesn’t implicate that all we can do when having a conversation with a friend is talk specifically about Jesus, but, moreover, to show that friend Jesus’ love through our words…

  • In the Light

Light is not only a bright ray giving us the ability to clearly see everything around us, but light is warmth, comfort, and beauty. When you’re walking around the house, you need the light; working in the dark would be terribly unconvenient. Though one can function without sunlight, not one can live happily without the Light of the World. Hey, that reminds me of these two Bible verses: In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:4-5 (ESV) [ I Am the Light of the World ] Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in…

  • In the Dark

In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:4-5 Imagine a penetrating darkness crushing every hint of life in a room with no windows or doors, which means no light. Even a spider could not survive because of the darkness. What if you were trapped in that room? You can see, but you see nothing. You have lungs, but no breath spirals from your nose or blows against your lips. You have ears, but you cannot hear because everything is silent and depressing. You have a working brain, but you can’t think or acquire knowledge.…

  • New Roots, Part 2

Seeds can be planted in many different places, but the only place that will produce crop is that of which has rich, luxurious soil.  For example, Jesus tells a parable in Matthew 13:1-9.  He tells us about a farmer who planted seed on a path, rocky ground, thorn bushes, and good soil.  As we reviewed in Tenacious Faith’s latest post New Roots, the good soil was the olny ground where the seeds grew into mighty plants.  We also asked the question, “How does this story relate to our daily lives and our faith?”  Today, we will discuss how the passage relates to both. To start, read Matthew 13:18-23.  After you have finished look…

  • New Roots

Roots grow deep as anchors for our soul. Growing from them are our words, our actions, our habits, and our character. These roots- there mighty tricky. You can’t throw yours seeds anywhere. You have to throw them in the perfect ground underneath the softest rays of sunshine. Then, you have to water them. All these steps help grow your roots. Where will you lay your seeds? Will you have light shining on them? Where will you get water for them? Do you know your answer to these questions? If not, I invite you to come with me! Lets explore the wisdom for our seeds found in God’s Word.  In one…

  • The CHURCH

Did you know that all followers of Jesus can be referenced to as the church?  If you are a believer, you are one of God people, apart of many other people who believe. Together, you are the church. Being apart of a local church is not a requirment, but God loves to see us in fellowship with other Christians, which is one reason why we do go to church.  At my church, I have lots of friends, and we are growing in our faith togther.  We share happy times and bad times with each other so that we can learn from one another, and we pray, worship, discuss the pastor’s…

  • Power of Prayer

The power of prayer is stronger then an elephant, brighter than the sun, and more breathtaking than any marvelous sight ever seen on this earth.  Man can’t overcome it.  You can see the power of prayer throughout the entire Bible.  To start, look in the book of Psalms, and feel the extreme, overwhelming power of prayer. Just think!  Trough  prayer, we can reach and talk to this omnipresent, holy, pure, perfect God, the one and only true God, which is our Lord Jesus Christ.  This thing called prayer- it’s unstoppable because no matter what language you speak, how loud you pray, or where you are Jesus hears you. Still,  you may sometimes feel that God…
