A New Glimpse of God’s Beautiful Creation #Snow!!! #Sonnet

Have you ever marveled at something so beautiful in God’s creation that you feel like nothing could amount to such beauty; so much so that you search and search, but you find no words to describe the scenery? All you can do is observe it in breathless wonder and sincerely hope that one will understand in one’s heart the beauty you beheld by the color in your cheeks and the twinkling sparkle in your eyes. I know exactly how you feel!

A little while ago, I experienced my first snow. It began as a week of normal tempatures for the season, then, quite suddenly, but expectedly, the tempature dropped, and I had the gleeful pleasure of witnessing snow for the first time. God’s hand in creation amazes me daily, especially in the sunsets He paints right outside my kitchen window, but never before have I seen the white paradise that I encountered just a little while ago. Conveniently, it happened just before I had to tackle an assignment to write a sonnet. I was stumped on what to write about, but it was suggested to me that I ryhme about my play in the snow. I hope you enjoy this sonnet that I ended up writing, which I call: A New Month of Snow Play.

A New Month of Snow Play

If never before since thy first sweet breath,

Thou have seen with thine own eyes or have danced,

With brilliant face confused at summer’s death,

In a white fantasy land of wonder.

Snow falling to thine heart’s dazzled pleasure,

As the cold wind whirles in peaceful sky,

Down, and down, and amore down a measure,

Bringing a snowflake drifting to thy tongue.

Then, thee recounts such a marvelous time,

With sunny days and lively nights of old,

And now tis’ gone with winter’s snow sublime,

And thou despairs as the season hath ended.

Don’t be overcome by saddness, please, neigh!

God hath willed for a new month of snow play!

God Cares For Us

Writing this sonnet reminds me of a passage in Luke, where Jesus’ compares God’s care for His creation with His care for us, and how much greater He cares for us over the other things He created. Read this passage for yourself, and be encouraged to grow closer to the Lord because He will always be close to you!

“Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?  Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them.  But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well'” (Luke 12:22-31 NIV).
