Jesus is so glorious, magnificent, and merciful that when we open our hearts to Him and walk with Him, other people can see Him through our lives. Look at it this way: Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior won’t just change your life, but could change the lives of others. I’ve heard the saying, “Did you leave a friend with more of yourself (meaning your own opinion) or did you leave your friend with more of Jesus?” This saying doesn’t implicate that all we can do when having a conversation with a friend is talk specifically about Jesus, but, moreover, to show that friend Jesus’ love through our words and actions. You don’t even need to talk about Jesus in order to show His love to others; all you need to do is be a faithful friend on whom he or she can trust and rely.
This is difficult to do sometimes. Often, as I am trying to be kind to someone as Jesus would do, I end up ministering to them. Here’s the problem… No matter what I do or say, I cannot influence my beliefs upon them without God working in their heart first. Our job is to be a good friend to people in our lives and we should be aware of the Holy Spirit’s calling to share the good news. Even without ministering or having Jesus’ name pop up in conversation (especially when you are friends with an unbeliever) we can give them an image of who God is through our daily lifestyle. After all…
Come back to Tenacious Faith Blog later for the beginning of a new mini series talking about the Fruits of the Spirit and how we can use them to show others God’s love! For now, please join me in prayer.
Dear Lord, thank you for your light that shines through our lives! Thank you for using sinful human beings like us to do extraordinary things. Please help us to love others like you love them. We pray that you can use us to help other people see who you are. We love you, Jesus! It’s in your name we pray. Amen.
