To explore the beauty of vegetation, we must go back, back, all the way back to the beginning when God created the earth.
Then God said, “Let the earth produce vegetation: plants bearing seeds, each according to its own type, and fruit trees bearing fruit with seeds, each according to its own type.” And so it was.
-
- Let’s start with the luscious, onion-like veggie that tastes so good on literally anything. Chives are green spouts that I like cutting into bits and sprinkling on my food. Here’s a great way to store them:
- Buy a bundles of chives from your local grocery store.
- Cut each spout into little bits as shown in the upper left picture above.
- Store them in a plastic snack bag in the refrigerator. You can easily pull them out of the fridge whenever you need them and enjoy! They will keep in the refrigerator for about a week.
- Another favorite veggie of mine is cilantro. Cilantro smells magnificent and tastes good on anything, but I especially like them either on Mexican food or a green salad that has many sweet fruits in it. The tangy, yet light taste of the cilantro balances the sweetness of the fruit. You can keep cilantro in the fridge and simply pull some leaves of the cilantro bundle when needed .
- The second to last of my favorite green veggies is lettuce. I prefer a regular mix of lettuce on burritos, salads, and more. It’s refreshing and has a sort of earthy taste which adds to any meal’s delicious flavor. There are many parts to a head of lettuce, and each part adds texture to a dish a well.
- Last, but not least, I enjoy green pepper. In general, I’ve never been a huge fan of peppers, whatever the color, but I love chopped green pepper on many different foods. Here’s my favorite way to slice and dice:

Slice & Dice:
- Hold the green pepper upright on top of a cutting board as shown in the lower right picture (picture shown at the beginning of blog post) above.
- Cut a strip of green pepper by using a cutting knife to slice from the top of the pepper, bringing it down to the board.
- Then, cut the strip into little pieces and sprinkle on your food!
