The Best Avocado Toast

Yesterday, I got a hankering for a good slice of avocado toast, so I made this delicious recipe that I want to share with you! It is super nutritious, tasty, and makes a great side dish. Plus, it only requires a few minutes to prepare when you are in a rush. Avocado toast is a simple dish, but this recipe bumps it up a level!

Ingredients:

  • 1 slice of bread (I used Rocky Mountain Bakery Rudi’s Honey Sweet 100% Whole Wheat Bread.)
  • 1 half ripe avocado
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. djon mustard
  • sprinkle of course ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Toast the bread until it is firm but not browned. The best avocado toast is crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. (I love using my Cuisinart Air Fryer/Toaster Oven to preform this step of the recipe!)
  2. Take a spoon and scrape medium-thickness layers of avocado out of the ripe half of one. Scraping the avocado instead of cutting slices keeps the edges of the avocado pieces soft and smooth on your tongue. Place these layers on the toast, covering its surface completely and possibly layering avocado scrapes on top of the first layer of avocado.
  3. In a small bowl preferably with a lip, whisk the lemon juice and djon mustard with a fork and drizzle over the avocado toast.
  4. Sprinkle the toast with some course ground black pepper and enjoy!

This recipe would make a great snack or side dish because it contains healthy carbohydrates and fats, two essential food groups to a balanced diet. I hope you enjoy and thanks for reading! Until next time…
