Preparing Our Hearts For Easter

Last Sunday was Palm Sunday. Yesterday was Good Friday. Tomorrow is Easter. During this holiday season, we celebrate Christ’s death and resurrection. His sacrfice on the cross means we get to have eternal life if we put our trust in Him. He is the one and only unfailing, eternal hope! The world will try desparately to tell us otherwise. Even our own sinful nature will prove deceitful. It will try and tell us we can save ourselves through great health, popularity, or perfection. It was Jesus’ perfect life on earth that enabled His blood to suffice as a sacrifice for redemption of sin. His body was broken for us, and His blood was shed for us, all for the glory of God!

Death and Resurrection

Jesus never commited one sin, but He was crucified for ours. Isaiah 53:5-6 ESV says, “But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” We have walked away from God, but He never stopped walking towards us.

For three days, He was in the grave, but on the third morning, He rose. “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?’” (John 11:25-26 NIV). God says to believe in his Son and live! Although this Easter may be a little different because of COVID-19, celebrate our Savior. Praise Him and thank Him for all He has done. Pray also that the people who reject Jesus turn from their wicked ways and call upon His name. Happy Easter!
