In the Light

Light is not only a bright ray giving us the ability to clearly see everything around us, but light is warmth, comfort, and beauty. When you’re walking around the house, you need the light; working in the dark would be terribly unconvenient. Though one can function without sunlight, not one can live happily without the Light of the World. Hey, that reminds me of these two Bible verses:

In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:4-5 (ESV)

I Am the Light of the World ] Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 8:12 (ESV)

As we talked in Tenacious Faith’s last post “In the Dark,” many of us dwell in a dark room with no light. You may be there right now, dead and buried beneath shame and sin.  We also pictured how Jesus makes us alive. Today, go back to that mental image, and imagine that, as Jesus comes into the room, He is glowing so brightly that your eyes cannot bear His glory, and then He touches you and makes you alive.

Relating to John 8:12, Jesus exclaims the good news that He is the Light of World, and whoever believes in Him will have the light of life. Take note- Jesus does say that His followers “will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” He does not say that we will not suffer, nor will there not be any darkness; He only says that His believers will not walk in the dark, but His light will shine upon and through them.
While we have sinned and broght death upon the world, Jesus has forgiven and saved all who will accept Him as Lord and Savior. His grace is unimaginable, and if we turn to face His light, we will not walk in darkness.
As you go into tomorrow’s world, remember that Jesus loves you, and His light shines on every dark situation and the darkness cannot extinguish it. Sometimes, things can seem too dark for the Lord, but we need to trust Him. He has already rescued us not because we deserved it, but because of who He is and His love for us!
This is likeness of life when you’re in the light.
Dear Jeus, thank you for Your light that can shine upon and through us. Please help us to trust you and step into the light. We love you, Lord. It’s in your name we pray. Amen.
