The CHURCH

Did you know that all followers of Jesus can be referenced to as the church?  If you are a believer, you are one of God people, apart of many other people who believe. Together, you are the church.

Being apart of a local church is not a requirment, but God loves to see us in fellowship with other Christians, which is one reason why we do go to church.  At my church, I have lots of friends, and we are growing in our faith togther.  We share happy times and bad times with each other so that we can learn from one another, and we pray, worship, discuss the pastor’s message, and study the Bible together.  Through all of this, my friends and I gather together in fellowship to praise the Lord!

Fellowship is really important when you are a believer.  Read Acts 2:42-47 below and examine the need of fellowship.

Acts 2:42-47

Life as a Christian

42 The disciples were devoted to the teachings of the apostles, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. 43 A feeling of fear came over everyone as many amazing things and miraculous signs happened through the apostles. 44 All the believers kept meeting together, and they shared everything with each other. 45 From time to time, they sold their property and other possessions and distributed the money to anyone who needed it. 46 The believers had a single purpose and went to the temple every day. They were joyful and humble as they ate at each other’s homes and shared their food. 47 At the same time, they praised God and had the good will of all the people. Every day the Lord saved people, and they were added to the group.

Fellowship allows believers to come together in unity, learn about God, and talk about what Jesus says in the Bible.  Christians need fellowship to learn from each other and comfort one another.  For example, people sell their own valuable possessions in Acts 2 to help other followers of Jesus.  As we can see, God works through our fellowship!

To end the day, lets say a quick prayer!

Dear Lord, thank you for giving us the ability to interact with other people. Please, help us to make the time and gather together with other believers to worship and learn about You. You have given us so many people, with whom we can befriend and praise you! Thank you! It’s in Your name we pray. Amen.
