Be Inspiration Part 5

COLOSSIANS 3:12

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

1 Peter 3:15

But dedicate your lives to Christ as Lord. Always be ready to defend your confidence in God when anyone asks you to explain it. However, make your defense with gentleness and respect.

There are a couple different meanings of gentleness, but this is the one that we are going to discuss today (can be found at Dictionary.com): not severe, rough, or violent; mild:

a gentle wind; a gentle tap on the shoulder.

Would you listen to somebody’s opinion if they threw rocks at you or hit you? I would think not! You would probably think that that person was brutal and untrustworthy.

As believers in Christ, God asks us to spread the good news. Though, nobody would listen to us if we forced them to follow Jesus, or we hurt them in doing so. Moreover, we would be disobeying God. Besides, their whole heart wouldn’t be in the matter.

In our speech and actions, we need to be gentle. Being gentle is very very similar to being kind. They are almost the same thing. I challenge you to try as hard as you possibly can to express gentleness this week. In your words, your actions, and your choices, express gentleness!!! 🙂
